About Gray Summit Roofing
Gray Summit Roofing — Pacific, MO Roofing Contractor
A young company with a decade-deep operator, 500 completed projects, and a genuine specialty in the part of roofing where homeowners are most exposed.
Our Story
Why This Company Exists
Gray Summit Roofing was built with a clear purpose: to create a roofing company homeowners can trust and a team that takes pride in doing things the right way. After years across roofing, solar, sales, production, and operations, our leadership had seen both sides of this industry; the contractors who do it well, and the ones who give the trade its reputation. The opportunity was obvious. Build an organized, accountable company centered on quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and an exceptional customer experience.
We opened our doors on May 1st, 2025 and started where the need was greatest. Insurance restoration is where homeowners are most exposed, because a hail or wind claim can go badly for no reason other than a contractor who doesn't know how to document damage, read a carrier's scope, or hold an adjuster to the policy language. That expertise became our foundation, and it still is.
The work has grown from there. Alongside residential roofing, we handle James Hardie siding, seamless gutters, soffit and fascia, and full exterior renovations. On the commercial side, we're credentialed through CertainTeed's low-slope program with Master Craftsman certification in modified bitumen, allowing us to install and warranty NDL commercial roof systems that most contractors our size simply can't offer.

“Most companies at this stage run on paper and memory. We run on data, and our customers feel it in tighter timelines, straighter answers, and fewer surprises.”
In a short time, we've built proven systems for sales, production, training, quality control, and customer care. Behind the scenes, we run on a custom operations platform developed in-house: live job costing, financial scorecards, production tracking, and CRM integration that keep every project's status, documentation, and numbers current in real time. Most companies at this stage run on paper and memory. We run on data, and our customers feel it in tighter timelines, straighter answers, and fewer surprises.
That growth has been driven by the same values that guide every project: attitude, respect, accountability, teamwork, a whatever-it-takes mentality, and a commitment to teaching and building people up — never at the expense of safety, quality, or integrity.
From our office in Pacific, Missouri, we serve the greater St. Louis metropolitan area and communities within about ninety minutes of our door. Gray Summit Roofing is still a young company, but we're building it for the long haul, one customer, one roof, and one relationship at a time.
Leadership & Team
The People On Your Project
Former forensic scientists, chefs, teachers, and tradespeople. The common thread is that everyone here came from work where getting the details wrong had consequences.

Benjamin Ezell
Owner
Founded Gray Summit in May 2025 after a decade in St. Louis roofing and construction.
Ben founded Gray Summit Roofing in May 2025 after a decade in St. Louis roofing and construction: project management at CD Strong, a corporate stretch at Marc Jones/Sunpro, and three years helping a friend build Gorilla Roofing from the ground up. He holds a metal roofing systems certification from the University of Wisconsin and CertainTeed Master Craftsman credentials in both shingles and low-slope commercial systems. The jobs that stick with him are the hopeless ones — the claims a carrier won't agree to, where persistence gets a family back into a home better than it was before the storm. Outside work he's with his wife Emily and their daughters Lilly and Willow, playing music, cooking, or in the garden. He speaks Spanish and is working on Arabic.

Pablo Mellado Yado
Production Manager
Plans, structures and improves field operations, production teams, supply chain, quality control and invoicing.
Pablo delivers and guarantees quality on every project he leads, a role he earned the long way, starting as a runner in July 2025 and moving up through as a project manager. His commitment is always with efficiency, quality and safety. Before roofing, he spent 15 years as a chef in Mexico and Latin America and moved to the U.S. in 2023, that kitchen discipline shows up here as strict process structure. At home he's a generalist — his house is permanently mid-project and it’s always covered in sawdust, paint, plants and soil.

Robin Mennel
Roofing Project Consultant
Former forensic scientist who brings an investigative, education-first approach to every inspection.
Robin has been with Gray Summit since day one. He spent five years as a forensic scientist at the St. Louis City Crime Lab analyzing evidence and testifying as an expert witness, plus a stint as a software developer, and he brings that same systematic, investigative approach to every inspection. Homeowners usually come to him wanting to know what happens next after damage is found, and he walks them through it education-first so they can make an informed call. His favorite projects are the transformations — a new siding color, or a shingle roof becoming metal or composite slate. Outside work he travels with his family, works on the house, and is steadily leveling up his chess.

Emily Ezell
Bookkeeper
Ben's wife and the backbone of our finances — every invoice on the right project, every number correct.
Emily is Ben's wife and the backbone of Gray Summit's finances. She makes sure every invoice lands on the right project and every number is correct. After ten years at home raising the family she returned to work at Aldi, then wanted a change of scenery and joined Gray Summit, where she found a role that lets her learn at her own pace and go deep on detail instead of racing a clock. Her ideal workday is lo-fi playing and a clean set of project numbers to reconcile. Off the clock she's watching true crime, in the garden, or outside with her chickens.

Jeremy Duncan
Project Manager
Guides homeowners through a difficult stretch and delivers the exact look they pictured.
Jeremy has been a project manager at Gray Summit for just over a year. Before roofing he worked in substance use treatment, so helping people through a difficult stretch is familiar territory — when he left, he went out on a limb and tried something new. His favorite part of the job is when a homeowner has a specific vision for how their house should look and the crew delivers exactly that. He's a hardcore blues fan.

Paul Lewis
Roofing Project Consultant
Former educator who believes a homeowner who understands the process makes confident decisions.
Paul helps homeowners determine whether they have storm damage, understand their repair or replacement options, and get through the process from first inspection to final install. He spent nearly 15 years as a teacher and administrator in St. Louis area schools, and he brought the core of that work with him: knowledge is power, and a homeowner who understands the process makes confident decisions. He is a CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator. The best moment of any project, for him, is the end — when the customer knows they were taken care of. He played college football before discovering soccer, and you'll find him in an indoor league on Sundays.

Ginger Wehrle
Runner / Project Manager
Keeps materials on site, work up to standard, and homeowners satisfied with the finished job.
Ginger makes sure materials are on site when crews need them, that work meets Gray Summit and industry standards, and that homeowners are satisfied with the finished job. She spent several years working in and managing her family's residential concrete and hardscape business, so job sites, truck loads, and customer conversations are second nature. She met Ben while following up on an application to a different company — one conversation later she decided to give roofing a shot. This year she took up running, and she'll finish her first 5K before the end of August.

Darrik Kajander
Roofing Project Consultant
Handles exterior remodels, roofing projects, and storm-damaged properties from first inspection on.
Darrik helps homeowners with exterior remodels, roofing projects, and storm-damaged properties. The two questions he hears most: can you get my home back to pre-storm condition, and can you help me design a new look? He came from a warehouse role training and supervising staff, and he brought the organization and follow-through with him. The initial inspection is his favorite part of the job — meeting the homeowner and working out how he can be most useful. He's played on the same competitive men's soccer team for three years.

Brittany Wideman
Receptionist
The first voice homeowners hear — fields all incoming calls and makes sure every client feels taken care of.
Brittany is the first voice homeowners hear when they call Gray Summit. She fields all incoming calls and responds to most engagement messages — and the two questions she gets most are ones she loves answering. "Do you give free estimates?" Yes. "I heard your company is the best at getting insurance companies to pay — is that true?" Also yes. Before joining Gray Summit, Brittany spent nearly nine years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She came here looking for a change and a more positive work environment, and found exactly that. The communication skills and empathy she built working with residents and their families now show up every day in how she takes care of Gray Summit's clients. Her favorite thing about the company is her coworkers — they genuinely care about the people they serve, and they care for each other. It makes coming to work something to look forward to. Outside the office she's a single mom to two kids who play sports year-round, and she absolutely loves watching them on the mat and on the football field.
